Company Profile

The CircuLite™ mission is to expand the treatment of chronic heart failure by commercializing a Pocket Circulatory Assist device that can be endovascularly implanted in a superficial pocket by an interventional cardiologist, similar to a pacemaker implant.

The CircuLite technology, the Synergy™ Pocket Circulatory Assist Device, is designed to expand the treatment of heart failure from the acute decompensated hospitalized patient to the chronic, ambulatory patient. The CircuLite technology is designed to provide a new treatment option for over two million chronic heart failure patients worldwide who continue to be significantly symptomatic despite appropriate, optimal medical therapy (including medications and, when appropriate, device-based treatments such as cardiac resynchronization therapy) but are not yet candidates for a surgical support device or heart transplant.

The key component of the Synergy device is the proprietary and patented micro-pump technology acquired after eight years of development at the Helmholtz Institute in Aachen, Germany, one of the world’s leading centers for blood pump technology development.

CircuLite, a private, venture backed international company, was founded in November 2004 and is incorporated in Delaware. CircuLite is headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey and CircuLite GmbH is located in Aachen, Germany. As of June 2007, CircuLite has nineteen employees and is on track to reach a First in Man (FIM) implant in 2007.
